I used grease when I did it anyway. My reels are now clean and put back together.

Glad you decided to clean them yourself. Now that you figured out what your doin, maybe a good time to order upgrades and install after your salt trip. What do you mean, "upgrades"? I'm very confused now

I guess the picture is a bit deceiving, I got it figured out anyway. Do you just use oxy clean on your reels when you clean them?

Can someone answer a question for me? I was told I need reel oil and lube by the cleaning video I am watching to help me. I got oil, but I can't find any lube, just grease. Is reel grease the same thing as reel lube?

I got it figured out just now. I got one of my Abu boxes and it had the small card with all the parts and where they went. They go over top of the clicker mechanism once it is slid down onto the frame.

I was attempting to clean my abu 6500c3 for the first time, and when I took the left plate off (the one with the clicker underneath it) these two small black plastic sleeves fell out. Someone please tell me where they go. The first on fell out as soon as I took the plate off. The second while I was looking for where the first went..... The reel is a 2014 model Attachments:

I am scared to clean them myself because I could mess them up so bad. Should they be cleaned right before I go to the beach so they are in top shape to fight the strong saltwater fish? Or if they're cleaned now will they be good through the whole summer?

I'm just excited that it's almost time to start fishing for the catfish again! I need somewhere to clean my reels though, and I am wondering if you guys have any recommendations? Also, I want to share that in mid July I'm going on a 6 day fishing trip on the folly river in South Carolina. I will be fishing for small sharks, in the 6 foot and under range, redfish, drum, and anything else that we happen to catch! I could also fish the pier, but the river may be more fun. I will definitely post pictures! Really though, any info on the reel cleaning would be appreciated. Looking to have penn squall level winds and abu 6500's cleaned. Thanks everyone!

Cabelas has them for sure. It's where I got mine from. They're my favorite rods.

Hi guys, I haven't posted for a while, but I'm struggling. I have been trying to catch some channels in the winter and I cant. I don't know what to do. I found the deepest hole within an hour of me, and I went there. I fish the ohio river. I had four rods out, with small j-hooks, small pieces of bait, and I engaged the reels and kept the lines tight. I had two VERY subtle bites, but didn't catch either fish. I don't know how to fish for channels in the winter, and I need some tips. I don't know what rig to use, what kind of hooks, what bait, types of places to fish, and if I should tight line, disengage the reels etc.... Any help would be very appreciated, thanks

there are two different kinds of bait here. Dip and punch bait. Dip bait is to be used with a dip tube or sponge hook. Punch bait with a lot of fibers like sudden impact is most often used with a bare treble hook. I love the sudden impact on a bare #4 treble hook. For putting either on a hook, just mix the top layer of your bait, press your tube or hook in until it is covered with whatever you're using, I like paint stirs, swirl it, and smooth the bait over it then pull your baited hook back out of the bait by the line. It stays on in current, especially the sudden impact. I fish the Ohio with tons of current. The reason you think it doesn't is because it falls off when you reel in, it's designed to dissolve in water to attract fish. Just put some on your hook, cast to where you want and let it sit for about 20 minutes. You will either catch a fish or it will be completely dissolved by then and it will be time to revisit your hook.
