I hit the Scioto today for a few hours on the bank and dropped in a few lines by log jams and got this 11.4lber. Missed another and had a few other short runs. River rose about a foot while we were out and we had to move our rod holders back a few feet at one point because they were in the water. Attachments:

Yeah having an air cooled outboard makes your trips limitless. Every time I start to hit bottom I have to kill the motor and then lift and lock it up in place. Then before you realize it you can be caught drifting downstream in a hurry. And as soon as we get into deeper water I gotta unlock the motor, drop it into the water, put it in neutral, pull start it, and then throw it into drive...all as fast as possible before we hit a log jam. It can get pretty intense sometimes.
When my motor is in drive it doesn't lock either so that's good for when I hit submerged logs. Sounds like you hit the jackpot though on that boat. I got my boat and trailer for $100 and it looks like it. I will take pics and post them in the Show Your Ride forum here soon. It should get a few laughs but it does the job.

I know it's a pretty late response Sean but I'm new to the site. We fish shallow parts of the Scioto and have to get out in the water and pull/push the boat up through shallow rapids. Our boat is fiberglass so carrying isn't an option. Chest high waders should work good if you got them. Also, I wouldn't recommend attempting to pull up the motor and drift back down through the shallows. We've hit a few log jams pretty hard by being lazy and trying this.

Never try to pull your motor up to drift through shallow rapids. (Nothin a little Bondo can't fix)

I was wondering the same thing...it looks like they had it in that truck but who knows. I'm sure the details will come up at some point.

Anyone find any nice sheds this year? I've been fishing in my free time and haven't got out at all this year.

My name is David, fairly new to the site. I've been on OGF for a little while and recognize some names on here. I kept the same name so people might recognize me. I fish mainly the Scioto river around the downtown area and down towards Chillocothe for shovelheads and channels. I live in Columbus so the long drives really start to hurt the wallet. I am an all species angler but mainly target catfish. Recently got a boat and plan on doing a lot more Muskingum and Ohio river fishing this year and can't wait till they really start hitting and start seeing some flathead pics on here. Good luck this year fellas.
