Less than a month for the opener here in Ohio and I can't wait to get up in the stand. Got a new harness for this season and that's it, still using the Bowtech 82nd Airborne. One buddy got the new Destroyer 350 and another did some trading for a Helium and both are really nice bows. Got a newborn at home so not getting any new toys for this season and my days will be more limited than in the past. Any of you guys get any new stuff for this season? or getting any good cam pics? I hunt all public and don't use cameras often just go and sit by some of the nearby fields during summer and get a little idea of some of the bucks roaming around the area.
On another note, I'm not the most thrilled with the muzzy season in Oct. Gonna put a lot of pressure on the public land we hunt before the rut. I'm more than likely gonna take the opportunity to take what should be a pretty easy doe but it will definitely change my tactics and targeted areas for sure. And I'm also pretty sure Oct. 14th will be the day with the most bucks tagged for the season.

They have jet drive lower units you can buy for an outboard. If you could figure out how to interchange them yourself, you could have the best of both worlds. I saw Fishin' with Joe (from youtube) with a nice new Mercury outboard that he had a jet lower unit put on. He was fishing the Scioto with it and said he can go in 4-5inches of water and be fine. And if it was shallower he could build some speed and get through.

How many of those guys that fish it know what they are doing......how many are tossing live gills? And how many are tossing livers, nightcralwers, etc? It just may be that they arent fished for in the right way. Sent from my SCH-I545 using proboards I agree. I fish some heavily fished areas quite a bit and pull fish out of them because of this same reason. Nice fish and congrats on the PB!

Got a chance to do some flathead fishing the other night. Only caught one but it is the biggest of the year so far. Haven't had a chance to fish as much and when I've had the chance the rivers have been blown out so I've fished for channels. Weighed 12lbs. Not the biggest in the world and I caught it on my girlfriends rod, a Nite Stick Lipstick. The water was still a little high so we hit a spot where a good sized feeder creek feeds into the river and is a calm pool where the river doesn't flow as hard. Caught in the Scioto just south of Columbus. Picture of the release. We actually missed a few runs throughout the night and when we got there we saw a couple gar at the top of the water so we figured it was the gar. Had some bites that took off and came back with shredded baits as well.

I think the hook went back into the bait after the fish got off the hook. I hook from the bottom of the bait if on the bottom and from the top if under a bobber. Chubs and suckers always in the mouth. I've seen people using a stinger hook for blues when they use big hunks of skipjack but I've never used one myself.

I like the Records and C3s are always a solid reel for the money. It depends on the average size of the fish you catch. Where I do most of my fishing I don't need the biggest reels. I don't have any experience with any of the other reels you mentioned. From the bank you will need something that can cast well. Records are about $160 I think.

Good luck with that whale Sean! Up here by downtown the Scioto seems to get blown out if it starts sprinkling. I have a few high river spots where it's possible to fish high waters but they haven't been producing much.

I picked up a HSS Ultra-Lite. It's black and not camo but it's the thin strap style and not the vest. It was on sale so I went ahead and picked it up. I haven't had a chance to mess with it much yet but I still have 30days to return it if it doesn't fit or if I decide on another one. What I don't like is that you're not able to try on different styles. They are all packaged real tight and you cannot open them in the stores.
I use a climber and hunt public land so I move around to different trees a lot. Aren't the rope tethers more for permanent tree stands and you leave the tether in the tree?

Use whatever weight sinker is needed for the current you are fishing or how much weight you need to cast to where you want to. Chicken liver can catch some channel cats but other bait like shad, bluegill, or shrimp is normally better. The small nibbles you are getting may be from small cats or even little bluegill nipping at the livers. I set my poles to run most of the time when bank fishing and let them run before I hook them. If you tight line your pole you better make sure you have a sturdy rod holder or you will lose your pole. Hope this helps you catch more fish!

I am in the market for a new harness this year for hunting season. Any suggestions on which one to get? I saw that Hunters Safety System has a model harness for under $100, it's the TreeStalker. Anybody know anything about this model?
